Our Story
Good Shepherd Retreat & Conference Center is a 50-acre campus that will take close to 10 years to fully develop all four phases.
Diocese of the Southern United States is established in 1993. H.H. Pope Shenouda III appoints His Grace Bishop Youssef to oversee this Diocese.
His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef builds St. Mary & Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church in Houston in 1997 and later opened its main sanctuary in 2004.
Saint Mary & Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church, purchases the ground site in Hempstead, Texas of which is now the Good Shepherd Retreat.
Hegumen Fr. Younan William announces the opening of Phase 1 of the Retreat Center in 2023. Now GSR Center can accept Day Camp visitors.
